THE STORY BEHIND WORDWISE MARKETING

Hi. I’m Kelly Watson, and I founded Wordwise Marketing in 2008. Want to hear a secret? A few years ago, I hated marketing. Or at least I thought I did.

Back then, I was the editor of a local nightlife magazine, and my job revolved around ad revenue. There was never enough. I did get to talk to the occasional celebrity, and Dennis Miller once complimented me on my interviewing style. Most days, though, I spent countless hours in sales meetings, only to race back to my desk and edit the monthly list of happy hour drink specials. Not very fulfilling.

But this stress made me pay attention. I started reading things like ads, press kits and web pages more closely. And I realized that many were poorly worded, riddled with errors and ultimately, ineffective. So I began learning about copywriting. I wrote some marketing materials for my self-employed parents. Then, I quit my job.

CONVERSATIONS CREATE CONVERSIONS

That was years ago. Working as a freelance copywriter, I gained a ton of skills and many repeat customers. But I also realized something important. The world has gone viral. People no longer want to hear a static sales message. They want to interact with content, start conversations and create relationships.

Those catering to this new communication—whether through blogs, e-mail marketing or just conversational copy—reap huge profits, thanks to an ever-growing group of satisfied customers.

"The time invested in a blog post or a podcast is minimal when compared to the return," one business owner told the Wall Street Journal. "We see direct results in sales, search-engine rankings and interesting opportunities to network with other people both inside and outside the community."

CASH IN ON WEB 2.0

Most business owners never get this far. They don’t have time to write a blog. Or they don’t know how to create an e-mail marketing campaign. Or they’re just plain confused about it all.

That’s why I created Wordwise Marketing: to help businesses large and small reap the rewards of conversational web copy. Discover more about Wordwise Marketing services, use the contact form, or call today—717-606-3929—to speak with me directly and schedule your free consultation.
